Dr. Finigan specialises in lung cancer, lung nodule evaluation, COPD, and critical care medicine. He also brings deep expertise in lung cancer screening program design and management, drawn from his role as Medical Director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program at National Jewish Health.

Dr. Finigan's research focuses on lung cell biology — specifically how cell-cell junctions are disrupted during lung injury and repair — which is directly relevant to understanding acute lung injury and lung cancer initiation and progression. This translational research foundation complements his clinical practice and allows him to speak authoritatively to both basic science and clinical dimensions of pulmonary disease.

Dr. Finigan is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary Medicine (2007) and Critical Care Medicine (2008), and holds an ABIM general certification (2003). He holds an active Colorado medical license and is also licensed in Ohio.

Dr. Finigan earned his MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, completed his residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland, and undertook fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Finigan is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Thoracic Society, reflecting his dual engagement with oncology and pulmonary medicine communities.
